WHY THIS MATTERS
Many Black African, Black Caribbean and Minority Ethnic children, young people and families face pressures that can affect emotional wellbeing, mental health, confidence and identity.
Some young people struggle silently because of stigma, fear, cultural expectations, lack of understanding, or not knowing where to seek help. Others may face bullying, discrimination, grief, trauma, family pressures, school stress, social isolation, substance misuse, vaping or risk-taking behaviours.
THRIVE creates a safe, culturally sensitive and supportive space where young people can be heard, valued, encouraged and guided towards positive choices, healing, resilience and purpose.
Challenges may include:- Anxiety and stress

- Identity and belonging challenges
- Bullying and discrimination
- Grief and loss
- Family and social pressures
- Social isolation and loneliness
- Substance misuse, vaping and risk-taking behaviours

THRIVE is working to better understand the experiences, challenges and support needs of Black African, Black Caribbean and Minority Ethnic children, young people and families.
Through community engagement, research and partnership building, we aim to inform future services, programmes and support pathways.
